Speech-Language Pathologist, Buteyko

Hadas Golan is currently working at the voice and swallowing center in Boston University Medical Center (BMC). Her clinical expertise includes voice disorders; care of the professional voice, and respiratory/upper airway disorders. She is also a provider in the long COVID Recover clinic at BMC
She received her Master of Science in Communication Disorders from the University of Texas at Dallas in 2002, and her undergraduate degree, a B.Ed.Music, from the Rubin Music Academy in Jerusalem.
Hadas is also a Buteyko breathing educator and trainer. She has developed breathing courses for speech and language pathologists and she continues to lecture on the topics of breathing and voice.
Hadas incorporates her broad training background of breathing, voice, and manual techniques into a holistic wellness model for voice and breathing rehabilitation. She is an active contributor to the research literature on the topics of Buteyko breathing and vocal cord dysfunction and has co-authored a textbook chapter on the speech-language pathologist’s management of chronic cough.
To better treat upper airway disorders with consideration of the whole respiratory system and other physiological systems, Hadas pursued the Integrative Breathing Therapy (IBT) course. Since the completion of the course, she has been using the IBT protocols with her most challenging patients, people with long COVID. These patients have reported improvements not only in symptoms of breathlessness, but also anxiety, exertion tolerance, fatigue, and cognitive function. They also report feeling empowered by the breathing practices.
